Add fuel to the fire

Hi Everyone! 

How's it going?

Novamente vou pegar uma carona no tempo para falar da expressão idiomática de hoje. A expressão escolhida tem a palavra FIRE (=Fogo) e como hoje já passamos dos 30 graus, me pareceu bem propício. Vamos lá:

* Add fuel to the fire = {Colocar lenha na fogueira}

Meaning: 

To make a bad situation worse; to do or say something that causes more trouble; makes someone angrier

Example:

"I was already angry with you, and when you forgot to pick me up, that really added fuel to the fire"

{Eu já estava brava com você e você se esqueceu de me pegar, isso foi o mesmo que colocar mais lenha na fogueira}

Origin: The famous Roman historian Livy used this expression. If you pour water on a fire, it goes out. But if you put fuel on a fire, you make it burn hotter.
